15 CENTRAL PARK WEST

We had great pleasure of again collaborating with one of our favorite clients.  She was moving from the Upper East Side to the Upper West Side to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren and wanted our help in renovating the 2500sf space into a modern, peaceful and reflective home.   She also wanted it to be a space that had great flow and room to move around for when family and friends visit.   We achieved this by pairing down the space -- removing walls, reconfiguring rooms, renovating and modernizing the kitchen and three bathrooms.  We also redesigned closets and built new ones for sensible storage.  We modernized the space by replacing outdated doors and moldings, installing all new architectural lighting and hardware, refinishing floors, and keeping furnishings to a minimum.  By using a serene and light-filled palette in materials and colors, we amplified the peaceful airy nature of the design.

It was also important to her to have performance space to host intimate music events and lectures.  We designing long and low built-in cabinets under the windows that allowed for additional seating for her events, while at the same time keeping the space uncluttered.  The new window seats underscored the view, letting one take in the charms and delights of Central Park, and experience the seasons.
